Much though I enjoyed the long-overdue appreciation of el in The Guardian in November, I thought it was a little rich for Iain McNay to say how much he'd always admired and supported el, given the fact that some of its best ever releases - such as the King of Luxembourg albums - have been long deleted.
It was also galling that the article didn't even mention Louis Philippe, without whose writing, production and arranging there would hardly have been any el in the first place.
